Jag's owner was unaware of how or where Jag had sustained the injury and probably wouldn't have noticed it had the dog not been favouring that leg. The wound was very deep and sore and therefore Jag was going to require a general anesthetic to stitch the wound (most minor lacerations can be fixed with a mild sedative and a local anesthetic). Thankfully, the owner had purchased pet insurance for Jag and the entire surgery was covered (including the visit, antibiotics, pain killers, etc.). Jags surgery was a complete success and Jag recovered uneventfully. Lacerations such as this one would be completely covered on even the cheapest insurance plans (costing less than $20 a month). Here are photos of the wound before and after stitching (viewer discretion advised).
